Session 7 - Digital Fluency Intensive

Session 7 - Digital Fluency Intensive

In this session we have learnt about how the tukana and teina model is used in the Manaiakalani Kaupapa to connect us into a powerful network. The use of technology has made the connection amongst our schools more effective as it empower us to share   in many different ways like google plus, twitter and many others.  It was also brought to our attention that all Manaiakalani schools have common shared language which is very crucial.  Our Manaiakalani pedagogy is Learn, Create, Share.  Our kaupapa is the four elements: Connected, Ubiquitous, Empowered and Visible.  We have now understood the importance of having a common shared language within our Manaiakalani schools.

In addition, we also explored a variety of tools that could help us with our workflow.  We began with how we can organised our bookmarks and how to deal with having too many tabs open by using One Tab or Toby.  This is very helpful as I am now going to tidy up my bookmarks using One Tab which I have already installed on my computer.

We were looking at google hangouts in the afternoon and this was interesting as many of us have not use it before.  We had practice few times and I am so glad that I managed to do very well.  I can see the use of this tool with teachers but I still need to think very carefully about how I can use it with my students.  Here is a link to one of the task we have to do through Google Hangouts. We also learnt how to schedule a google hangouts and we have to organise a hangout with one of the facilitators for next week.  I have done the invitation and has been accepted so I have put in into my google calendar.
